as we bid Farewell to 2020

It’s probably pretty fair to say that most of us won’t be overly sorry to see the sun set on 2020. It’s been a year of unprecedented challenges and changes that have impacted multiple areas of our lives, both at home and at work. But while we are breathing a sigh of relief, it’s a good idea to acknowledge that 2021 is likely to come with its own share of challenges, so looking after yourself over the next few weeks is going to be imperative to how prepared you feel to face the new year.

Our tips this time are reminders of things you will already know – proven ways of building our resilience and nurturing our wellbeing.

  • Take a break if you possibly can. Even if you have to work through, be wise about how you choose to spend your downtime – do things that replenish your energy and make you feel good.
  • Look after your body – get out in the fresh air, keep your body moving and stay hydrated.
  • Look after your mind – do what it takes to unwind, make opportunities in your day to focus on you – check out our ideas for spending a few minutes on self care, from a quick two minutes through to half an hour.
  • At the risk of harping, take it easy with alcohol and other stimulants. Enjoy yourself but remain mindful that indulging in excessive stimulants (and food, come to that) can leave you feeling far less than 100% over the following days.
  • Get enough, good quality sleep. If you are not waking up feeling refreshed, this could be a good time to have a look at what you can do to improve the quality of your sleep. Check out these tips for improving your sleep habits. The rewards will be worth your perseverence!
